Background

From 2011 to 2018, WeChat has been born for 7 years. The Internet has been booming, and people’s lives have been tremendously changed during this period. WeChat, as a matter of fact, has transcended itself from a communication tool to a way of life for the general public. It has become the icon of this era, infiltrating into every aspects of our lives. However, most people are so used to these changes that they neglect the existence of them. They are quite familiar with WeChat but meanwhile, they still perceives WeChat just as a tool.

Multiple social networking platforms are playing important roles in common people’s lives of this era, in which the Internet is booming and communication is boundless. But the controversy of influence of communication tools on modern people has never stopped. Feedbacks from over 1 billion WeChat users tell the same story.

Execution

Times is about the people who actually live and exist, about everything that they have heard, seen and thought of. It may not be perfect, but it is real. This is our tribute to the reality.

The first half is to show the good and the bad in the times of WeChat via comparison of scenarios. The second half is to focus on WeChat usage and behavior, and to push the emotion to the climax in a parallel and progressive way, followed by a regression to the reality.

The video applies more handheld shooting, using environment lighting as much as possible and natural, close-to-real-life acting. String instruments mix with WeChat sound effects, giving the video more sense of reality and elegance.
