Description

Even though data is fundamental to everything WeChat does, its heart will always be with human connection.

We invented the anti-data WeChat Lab.

WeChat Lab is a social experiment studying the human impact, of data on our daily lives.

Execution

In the first season, we invited 6 heavy users to do the unthinkable: Log out of WeChat for 12 hours.

Real people, experiencing the real impact of cutting themselves off from their data. We followed them through their day and recorded the highs, the lows, the frustrations, the liberation, the laughter and the tears.

The resulting 6 documentary films ran on Tencent’s video platform.

They revealed far more than the raw data could tell us about the lives and relationships of Chinese mobile users.And started a passionate debate in social networks.

This experiment can help acquire the “true feelings” from the users . every user can repost the documentary and the poster and tell their own story.

6 real stories spread in social network widely, arousing more real feedback from more users, which will be the “human data”for WeChat .
