This film is fun. You don’t always get a peek inside the world of fashion, and when you do it’s often a staid experience, like you’re not being shown how things really work. But Gucci allowed us to put everything on display: the camaraderie, the fun, the jokes, the artistry, and the joy. It’s not just about Gucci, and not just about Sabato; it’s about fashion’s role in history and what a wonder it is for the people who create it.

It was inspiring to be behind the scenes for Sabato's first show and we are so grateful that he trusted us to tell his story. The film was supposed to be 5 minutes long but it ended up being 20 mins. because we captured so much great material. It was a joy collaborating with Sabato, Paul Mescal, and the rest of the Gucci team.

“Who is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story,” is a documentary offering an unprecedented glimpse into the debut show of the House’s new Creative Director, Sabato De Sarno.

We used Alexa and Super 8 to capture the 4 days leading up to Gucci's Fall 2023 Show. The Editorial and Graphics teams melded this footage and told the historical story of Gucci and Sabato's life with additional stock images, feature film clips, and layers of complex graphic animations. Licensing team secured 15 pieces of pop music, Paul Mescal as VO. Audio Engineers them blended harmoniously.

Following its premiere on Mubi and coinciding with the arrival of the collection in stores, Gucci will host screenings in major cities around the globe, allowing audiences to experience Gucci Ancora on the big screen. Marking a first within the fashion and luxury industry, an Apple Vision Pro enriched version will be available, ensuring that viewers can immerse themselves in the beauty and artistry of Gucci Ancora. Furthermore, in partnership with Air France, the House will make “Who is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story” available on all flights throughout the month of April.

At the first screening, Sabato De Sarno received a standing ovation. Then it exploded..
