Description

Main challenge was to show, in a single image, all the creativity, rhythm, spontaneity and joy of Brazilian people who are known by their passion and madness for football.

So we had to put all this in a nutshell and be understood and accepted by people around the world, thus, we developed a logo a with a sense of union, celebration and life.

Victory and union are two key emotive elements which were challenging to portray in a single piece, but could be achieved through the uplifting humanitarian notion of hands interlinking in the reach for the ultimate sports prize.

Execution

The logo is inspired on an iconic photograph of three victorious hands together raising the FIFA World CupTM Trophy. The hands give the shape of the trophy allowing to communicate that the FIFA World CupTM is a sum of several nations and people. The result is an emblem that conveys a sense of achievement, victory, and union, besides being a strong icon. As well as depicting the humanitarian notion of hands interlinking, the portrayal of them is also symbolic of the yellow and green of Brazil's flag warmly welcoming the world to our country.

Outcome

A clear indication of the success of FIFA World CupTM Official Emblem design in the market is its great exposure in all national and international media from the moment of its launch. Following the latter, its acceptance and recognition worldwide is already very high according to FIFA’s market research data and the logo is already being implemented in official licensed products in printing, embroidery, apparel, etc. We will surely have much more to see in the coming months towards the FIFA World CupTM Final Draw in December and the following months leading to the biggest football event on the planet.
