OVERVIEW

BriefExplanation

The videos collectively profile IBM solutions through the eyes of real people affected by genuine efforts to solve the world’s largest challenges.

The film addresses the issue of elderly care by spotlighting Zita, a resident of Bolzano, Italy, where almost 25% of the population is over the age of 65. The town is currently spending close to half of their social services budget on assisted living.

IBM's solution was to outfit elderly residents' homes with sensors that report data back to a central monitoring station. When the system raised a flag, the city could dispatch a care worker to the home.

We juxtaposed old family photos on Zita's walls with old illustrations of the town at the city offices, subtly weaving the personal and municipal stories into one. A subtle running metaphor of windows - particularly in the final shot of Zita - stands for vision and freedom.
