Kaan’s Stream Store is the world’s first livestream store. Buy products online like you’re in the actual store.
This project showcases the benefits of a sectorbank. Dutch bank ABN AMRO has áll the know-how on entrepreneurship under one roof. We used their knowledge to help solve a real problem with a unique experiment.
Small business owners are losing customers to big corporations and online stores and that’s a shame because these retailers often have a lot to offer.
Businesses like Jan’s, an authentic cheese vendor from the Netherlands. Dialogue with the customer is very important for him. Jan can tell you everything about cheese and for every occasion he will recommend a specific cheese. A webshop compromises in the shopping experience and that is what makes Jan’s shop so unique.
Kaan’s Stream Store combines the authenticity and personal contact of a real store with the reach of an online store.
Execution
Kaan’s Stream Store is an experiment that brings the authenticity of a real store to the online world.
On the website Jan and his sons helped customers from all over the world for five days straight via livestream. Anyone was able to buy cheese from Jan from the comfort of their home. This resulted in more than 55.000 visitors from 140 different countries and orders from all over the world.
When you bought cheese your order was processed live in front of the camera and you could ask Jan anything you wanted. Except after 6 pm because, just like a real store, the webshop closed after working hours. People asked things like “What cheese do you recommend for a pasta dish?” or “What is your personal favorite cheese?” And Jan and his sons answered in real-time.
We did some set design to make his store look more like a webshop: there had to be different clickable areas behind Jan to select the cheese. Our mantra in our execution was: keep it simple. No fancy 360 camera's or other gimmicks. Just a nice quiet livestream, where the little things become special. The design of the site was also focussed around the livestream, with transparant menu's the stream was never out of your sight. Here you could also find background information such as a video that showed the role of ABN AMRO in realizing the store. We launched the website with a short documentary about Jan and his business.
The project showcases what a sectorbank like ABN AMRO can offer business owners.
Our strategy was to show, don’t tell. Showing how a sectorbank could actually help a business in a real and innovative way makes more impact than just telling what the benefits of a sectorbank are.
