Write a short summary of what happens in the film
In this film, we see the story of 1,5 million mattresses, depicted on those mattresses. Every year, in the Netherlands alone, 1,5 million mattresses are thrown out. Most of them end up in landfills, or the incinerator, causing massive environmental damage. Few people are aware of this.
That is why we collected many hundreds of mattresses from the streets and took them to a warehouse turned studio. Here, we hand-painted and photographed them to form the frames of the stop-motion animation: the story of 1.5 million mattresses. (Of course, we used the same eco-friendly water based dye that is used in all of our hand-made mattresses..)
We also made a making-of, showing all the love and attention that went into this experimental endeavor.
Please tell us how the brand purpose inspired the work
Royal Auping is a relatively small, Dutch bed and mattress manufacturer, founded on the unshakeable belief that a rested world, is a better world. For over 130 years, they have made it their mission to bring calm to the world.
This means literally helping people rest, and sleep.
But also making sure no one lies awake, worrying about the environment.
Not surprisingly, Auping introduces Evolve: the world's first fully circular mattress, bringing a zero-waste solution to an industry with an otherwise very heavy footprint.
Auping Evolve can be renewed indefinitely and proves it is possible to offer the highest quality beds and mattresses, while still protecting the planet and the people on it.
