Write a short summary of what happens in the film
We're in a supermarket. At the end of an aisle, we see a man crawling on the floor, using his arms to drag himself forward. Around him, people continue to fill their baskets without paying attention to him. He stops in an aisle and rises up to grab a loaf of bread. He continues on his way to the cash register, where he is greeted by an indifferent employee. The man then heads for the exit where a wheelchair, which we understand to be his, can be seen. A V.O. says, "You wouldn't deprive someone of their wheelchair." We then see a series of Mira beneficiaries, the supermarket doors close in front of them. The V.O. continues: "So don't deprive someone of their Mira service dog. It's the law."
Cultural / Context information for the jury
Service dogs are essential to the mobility, autonomy, mental health, and well-being of their beneficiaries. By law, beneficiaries are allowed to bring their service dogs with them to all public places. Nevertheless, they are denied access far too often, and 1 out of 3 Quebecers does not believe they have this right.
