Hulu Sellouts, the world’s first honest influencer campaign, featured athletes like NBA superstar Damian Lillard saying “Why am I in this sponsored post for Hulu? Money.” In the campaign’s third iteration, we tapped into Dame’s critically-acclaimed hip hop persona: Dame D.O.L.L.A, who wrote a banger that featured bars like “Over 65 channels Hulu showing off / I wasn’t putting on ’til I turned cable off.”

Dame dropped a music video and put the song on his Spotify to the delight of cord cutters everywhere. We supported this effort with TV and social content. And while the history of diss tracks is marked by back-and-forth battles, two months and more than 15,800,000 streams later, cable has yet to respond.

From Tupac and Biggie’s battles in the ’90s to Drake and Meek Mill today, hip hop wouldn’t be hip hop without the diss track. But in all that time, no one has ever written a diss track against cable TV. That changed in 2021, when Dame D.O.L.L.A. dropped “Hulu Doesn’t Just Have Live Sports.” And like all targets of a savage diss track, cable has never been the same.

To authentically pull off the world’s first diss track against cable, we had to start by getting Dame D.O.L.L.A. to write and produce an original song. We gave him the brief that it needed to include “Hulu Doesn’t Just Have Live Sports” and crossed our fingers. Our expectations were blown away when we heard the badass beat paired with lyrics like “Over 65 channels Hulu showing off / I wasn’t putting on ’til I turned cable off.”
