BriefExplanation
TD Ameritrade Singapore provides access to cutting-edge trading technology, low commission rates, online education, and outstanding customer service. A landmark brand in the U.S., TD Ameritrade is a relatively new entrant to the Singapore market.
Our launch TVC tells the story of Stephen, an ordinary guy from middle management. You wouldn’t notice him if you passed him in the street – or in the elevator. However, there’s something different about him this morning. It’s hard to pin down, but it’s definitely there. He may be the consummate ‘little guy’, but he’s not going to let that hold him back.
When Stephen walks into the office that morning, there’s a new spring in his step… so to speak. Why? Because he’s chosen to ‘go big’ by trading with TD Ameritrade.
EntrySummary
Singapore itself is known as a ‘giant killer’. A tiny island nation, the country transformed itself from a humble fishing village into an economic powerhouse in the space of just a few decades.
Singaporeans are rightfully proud of their national achievements and global stature. At the same time, they are highly competitive, and always looking for a way to get ahead. When it comes to investing, TD Ameritrade offers everyday folks the chance to step into the big leagues, with trading tools and support which can help put them on par with the pros
Implementation
Finding those perfect underdog characters is always difficult – especially when you’re trying to communicate everything in 60 seconds, and without dialogue. We were looking for someone with naturally comedic sensibilities, who could make the small feel big, and someone the audience could really empathise with.
So after throwing the net out widely in both Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, we found our guy. He had that special mix of unique looks and idiosyncratic performance. Naturally likeable, but on the odd side of everyday. We filled out the rest of the cast with an ensemble of unusual faces, across different age groups and ethnicities. They formed a sort of collective caricature of well-known characters found in every office. Some became Stephen’s motley ‘entourage’; the rest were peripheral figures, observing and reacting to the drama of the Power Walk.
