There are thousands of phone booths in Mexico City that still operate with coins. Phone booths that, to us, looked more like perfect donation boxes where people could, by inserting their coins, contribute to the cause.
We brought together Mexico’s biggest telephone company with the Red Cross in pursuit of an unprecedented vision. For each donation, the “Caseta-Alcancía” (Phone booth collection box) will take your picture and upload it to social networks in the form of a digital sticker, amplifying the number of potential benefactors.
Outcome
An unexpected experiment that transforms an analogue medium like a traditional phone booth into a powerful digital amplifier for a worthy cause.Donations increased by 15% compared to 2011.+ 500 % fans and followers in social networks.Besides from Mexico, Red Cross is actually planning to develop the samestrategy and creativity in other Latin American countries.
