A simple practice line on a wall that Maria Sharapova hit thousands of balls against when she was a small girl, represented not only her first net, but also the start of her dream.
We restored the whole court and created a mural telling Sharapova’s unique story through that practice line on the wall to inspire the next generation of Russian tennis stars.
Through bespoke graffiti styling we crafted a beautiful mural that depicted the dream of a young girl versus the success of a powerful worldwide tennis star.
The functional practice line on the wall became the story of her rise to success though the regeneration of an iconic landmark.
Outcome
Nike inspired and supported the next generation of potential Russian tennis stars through global exposure in the news in and around Sochi, and across many schools across Russia. Children of Sochi could practice on a once broken court at a time of national pride or against the walls in their own playgrounds, where opportunities to engage with the game are little to non-existent.
Nike was elevated as an enabler brand in support of bringing the youth through the system, giving them the tools and inspiration to succeed.
