Description
Brief: Launch the world’s highest-end laptop computer in the worst economy since the Great Depression.
Execution
Designer Douglas Little, working with Michael Schmidt (production designer for Lady Gaga and Madonna) created seven one-of-a-kind Adamo laptops. Each inspired by a fantastical-yet-techy play on words. For example, the “Web Master” Adamo featured a spiderweb of Swarovski Crystals. Douglas and Michael decorated the windows of Bergdorf’s iconic Fifth Avenue flagship store with fantastical displays featuring each of the one-of-a-kind Adamos. The windows themselves spoke to this new audience in a completely unexpected-yet-relevant way for Dell. The fashion community and high-end consumers love Bergdorf, and adore Douglas and Michael. As a result, they welcomed Dell’s Adamo into their world.
Outcome
The Adamo-Bergdorf windows generated over 2 million live impressions, and were lauded by fashion press and blogs.
Elle magazine created a feature and sweepstakes promotion on the Adamo and Bergdorf windows both in its pages and online, which received over 300,000 entries for the sweepstakes.
The campaign not only delivered Dell to an entirely new audience under difficult economic circumstances, it generated valuable influence with fashion insiders and followers. And it generated sales.Sales results so far are impressive, above goals and, unfortunately, undisclosed.
