Description
It's Amnesty 50th anniversary.Amnesty International has been fighting for human rights for 50 years. But how can you celebrate this anniversary when the people you’d want to be there, can’t.As they’re being tortured, imprisoned, executed. We had to make a clear statement : The struggle goes on.
Execution
To mark the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International, we organised a striking stunt in collaboration with singers and radio stations. Indeed, Belgium's most famous singers incredibly agreed to interrupt their own songs on the radio in order to express their solidarity message for the victims of human rights abuses all around the world. Victims of torture, imprisonment, executions. The message of the campaign was simple: despite the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International, there's nothing to celebrate. The struggle goes on.How it worked: On the day of the 50th anniversary, during musical programs on the main radio stations, radio presenters announced the artists' songs in the normal way. But after a few notes, the singers suddenly stopped and surprised listeners by delivering their message instead.
Outcome
Amnesty received fantastic support from artists of all backgrounds: Puggy, Great Mountain Fire, Sandra Kim, Vaya Con Dios, Axl Peleman, Ozark Henry, Lucy Lucy, Guillaume Grand, The Subs. They all basically donated their 'airtime' to show their support, because sadly, 50 years on, there's still nothing to celebrate.Of course, Amnesty got awareness, signatures, mobilisation and donations.Much more importantly, it contributed to the actual release of nine of the victims. The struggle goes on!
