Background
Situation:
In 2023, the Pay Transparency Act was approved in the European Parliament.
A guideline that demands more transparency around salaries of companies.
Because this is a guideline, it does not make it an obligation.
Brief:
Make people realise that talking about your wage should not remain a taboo. Because only with more transparency around wages can employees know if they are being paid fairly, and can the wage gap be closed.
Objectives:
Change behaviour on the workfloor towards more transparency and openness around wages.
Execution
The film is made with a straight forward, undisguised way of creating images, that is intentionally rough around the edges. This contrasts with the absurd humouristic nature of the scenes.
Outcome
The film has just been launched (7th of March 2024), so it's too early to give you any results about this particular film.
Yet the famous Equal Pay Day films we have been making since 15 years helped to put the topic on the political agenda, forcing the government to take measures.
And so they did:
The 'Belgian loonkloofwet' (wage gap law) was installed in 2012.
We installed the 'wage gap reports', these are decent statistics that are being published every year.
And a European salary transparancy guidance was launched to adapt in all the different countries.
The wage gap is being reduced every year, bit by bit.
We now even see that young higher educated females get offered more than young higher educated men.
