Background
In 1976 Vans launched "Off the Wall" - a campaign line that meant 'do your own thing'...but it only really made sense to skateboarders. After fifty years, Van realized that they had to broaden their community or risk losing relevance in culture as a brand. So, how do you make "Off the Wall" mean something to everyone without selling out?
Execution
We used Vans ambassadors, real musicians, athletes, and style icons to articulate the idea that how you do things is reflective of who you are. There was never a doubt to use actors, this campaign was about authenticity and needed to be reflected through and through.
