Description
The film opens with an old man getting ready in his apartment. It’s clear that he is preparing for something important. He polishes his shoes until they shine and carefully combs the few grey hairs he has left. As he leaves, he looks fondly at a picture of his deceased wife.
As he reaches his unknown destination, he remembers that he’s forgotten something. Through the stormy December weather, he shuffles to his nearest Albert Heijn to get a little something for his host. When he finally rings the doorbell, his new love opens the door. He hands her the gift. She smiles, lovingly flattens his windswept hair. As they enter the family-filled living room everyone stares. Silence. For a moment they stand there, awkwardly fumbling their hands. Until the elderly lady grabs his hand. His face lights up, the tension is lifted and everyone introduces themselves to the old man.
