Idea

On 2018 Gatorade partnered with TD+, the biggest and most important sports channel in Costa Rica, to create BAM TV: a 5 episode street soccer reality with 2 players from the national soccer team. They had the task to lead 180 teams of youngsters that entered in the fight to turn into the champions of BAM.

Each episode was transmitted LIVE by TD+ in their digital platform, and were available to be seen at any moment.

Strategy

We launched the contest with Joel Campbell and Christian Bolaños, two professional soccer players from the costa rican national soccer team. They gave a shot out to all the youngsters that wanted to represent their teams in the competition. This invitation ran through Gatorade's social platforms, Td+ and also the players personal social networks. The kids were able to participate by buying products and showing up at the BAM Arena. There were 4 play-off dates before reaching the final game on the ship. All the games were transmitted live so family and friends could watch them sweat for a space on the ship stadium. Once the runner-ups were on board, the grand final took place on the ship stadium that was transmitted live from high seas. All the content is available to watch on TD+ as the first street soccer reality show ever launched.

Execution

The implementation was executed in a multichannel way using the TD+ digital platform as well as the Facebook and Instagram of Gatorade, TD+ and soccer players. We created a video teaser with the profesional players to generate some noise. Then we had an unveiling of the full message of BAM and invited every youngster to jump in to the competition. Once the game started it was transmitted as a live show, and during every week a recap was shown with the very best of each episode. People stayed tuned during the 4 weeks of play-off and until de grand finale on the ship stadium, which was transmitted also live from the high seas.
