The campaign used a real-life barbershop quartet to bring our written scripts to life. Collaborating with the quartet, we created original music featuring cheerful melodies and old-school, lovely harmonies. But instead of happy-go-lucky songs, we wrote stories of common small business struggles - a broken delivery truck – a stolen landscaping truck – an ice cream truck’s fender bender. We leaned into music as a vehicle for bringing our insight to life in these spots: owning a small business isn’t always as lovely as it sounds. The tension of the pleasant-sounding music versus the unpleasant lyrics brought the campaign to life in an entertaining, yet ‘funny because its true’ Progressive type of way.
