OVERVIEW

Description

The brief given to AKQA was to design a micro-site to launch X5 - BMW's Sports Activity Vehicle - a new concept in four-wheel drive motoring.The feature needed to communicate the proposition "the innovative use of technology delivers the BMW driving experience on all roads" whilst reflecting the BMW brand values of Performance, Exclusivity, Technology and Quality.An interactive experience was requested that reflected and communicated the capabilities and technological advancements of the X5 to potential owners.The X5 represents a new form of smooth and refined 4x4 motoring, where unseen technology delivers unparalleled levels of performance, handling and safety.The design theme mirrors this in several ways. Like the vehicle, the site utilises technology but only to enhance the users experience. The incredibly smooth and intelligent transitions between sections mirrors the purposeful and controlled handling of the X5. While the motion itself reinforces the dynamic agility of the X5.Exterior 360 modelling of the X5 within the feature enables the user to tour and explore the vehicle, enhancing the user experience and representing an industry first.With clear links to Test Drive Request, Brochure Request and BMW Home that sit slightly outside of the main frame, the user is always aware of the exit links and will never feel that they are 'lost' within the feature and can exit to other relevant places.
