Description
When journalists are attacked, knowledge, truth and freedom of speech are attacked as well. Our job was to bring this startling fact to the forefront while also introducing CJFE as the organization that defends journalists and their rights around the world.
Execution
We created a series of screen-printed posters that adapted the iconic "target practice" silhouette in order to show a Canadian journalist being targeted. It was the stark graphic nature of the print that was sure to grab attention. Combined with the headline 'When journalists are targeted, the truth dies', the posters were an eye-opening reminder that an attack on journalists is an attack on us all. The posters were screen printed on lightweight paper that mimicked real target practice posters in order to provide a raw, textured feel to the design.
Outcome
The design immediately gained the support of CJFE's panel of high profile committee members. Subsequently, the design was leveraged to produce event material for CJFEs annual fundraising gala. Inspired by the work, CJFE and the agency are continuing to work together to extend the campaign into new mediums.
