Description

“Good Trashy Life” was initiated by the collaboration of Tetra Pak (Thai) and a highly popular TV show, with the aim to encourage people to properly collect and separate used beverage cartons for recycling and give a new life to those cartons by turning the waste into value. All used beverage cartons collected were used as recycled materials for the production of 'Green Library' and 'Green Classroom' sets which then were donated to the students at the Border Patrol Police Schools who lack educational opportunities.

Execution

The collaboration started with a soft launch on World Environment Day, involving 4 MCs of a leading TV program to be the presenter of the campaign and all key partners to take part in the project's activities to educate people about the proper ways to collect used beverage cartons. We also led roadshows in schools, offices and with the general public, promoted 'drop-off' stations for used beverage cartons, and followed up and produce ongoing reports on the collection of used beverage cartons and the production process of school notebooks, etc, with the MC’s involvement. The wrap up event was a ceremony on December 4th, the Thai Environment Day.

Outcome

The 'Good Trashy Life' campaign was a success, sparking new ideas in people’s minds that about giving new life to used beverage cartons through recycling. The campaign's goodwill received a HRH Princess's donation which contributed greatly to public awareness. At the closing date of the campaign, we've got...21 Million cartons collected in 6 months. An 188 ton reduction in greenhouse gas.416,000 school notebooks.6,240 sets of classroom desks and chairs. The total publicity value (free) worth of coverage came in at THB $346,519,641, equating to USD$9,900.Most of all, we helped to put big happy smile on a lot of kid's faces.
