Background
Football is the main sport in the middle east, but since they lack strong competitive teams in their own countries, european football has become their major passion, and champions league the most important event. Paralyzing the region. Specially the UAE.
GoSport is a sports retailer in Dubai that sells all kinds of sporting goods, from the latest football boots and gear to the jerseys of participating Uefa Champions League teams. So this was the best moment to promote GoSport and their football kits. But how do we take advantage of the hype without the budget to hire superstars to sponsor them, and with few materials given by brands like Nike and Adidas full of T&C of usage?
The objective was a simple business one: cutting losses by depleting the remaining football gear inventory.
Execution
Sports 360 is the top sports magazine in the UAE with 40,000 copies distributed everyday. We paired up with them for 2 Mobile Banners over 2 days. The best part is that the Online magazine and Mobile App is a free publication, therefore eliminating a big barrier in reaching our target audience eyes, and ultimately their pockets.
The ads were also placed on GO Sport’s social media channels with a reach of more than 200,000 followers. Most of these are Passionistas and current customers. Reminding them of what’s available in the store during a highly relevant occasion was guaranteed to convert leads into sales.
