Execution

To get employees involved in the walk the teaser (trailer) ‘Mankind, a great story’ was created and kicked-off global staff meetings.

To inform the audience TNT & WFP launched the website www.fighthunger.org. and produced a global PSA commercial in 12 languages. On June 12th 2005 TNT and WFP organized ‘Fight Hunger, Walk the World’,walking all 24 time zones in just one single day.To create public awareness a PR-platform was launched. The event was filmed in over 20 countries and a ‘Walk the World free-to-air special’ was broadcast during the day to all TV-station news desks via global news satellites.

Outcome

Walk the World was a great success. Over 200,000 people (105,000 staff, 95,000 general public) joined the walk in more than 90 countries at 266 locations around the world. Funds were raised to feed and educate 70,000 children. International media loved the walk and it was seen all over the world in news programs. 110 minutes of international CNN and a huge amount Walk the World news coverage were recorded, creating a massive awareness.On May 21st 2006 we are going to Walk the World again.
