For many years in Ireland Bulmers have run a poster at Christmas that has gradually become iconic and synonymous with the season of good will. The poster consists of a fully leafed apple tree, laden with fruit and festooned with Christmas lights – standing in the middle of a bare branched winter orchard. This television commercial tells the back story of how this tree came to be, and relates how our familiar cast of Bulmer’s workers try to influence the Orchard Manager Tom in his choice of who has the honour of switching on the Christmas lights. A process that is negated when nature makes the choice for him! This commercial, as with the other Bulmer’s commercials entered, was shot on location in the Bulmer’s Clonmel orchard and features actual Bulmer’s workers as well as actors.
