We're going to see how every time you zoom in into a situation, things change, and that when you zoom as deep as you can, things are completely different than you thought they would be.

The piece is an artistic approach of the story and at the same time an attempt of representing how the Canon lenses are actually built, with several layers of complex engineering magnifying glasses and gears.

We have decided to use a mix of techniques between 3d and handcrafted paper.

At first we started using only textures and 2d illustration. But as we dig deeper into the project we noticed a certain lack of depth and some more realistic craft. It was when we decided to handraw each layer first on paper, captured every texture and then passed to the 3D software in order to animate the camera.

The real challenge after that was to simulate how the camera lens properly work in the real world without loosing the artistic overall aspect of the piece and its magical atmosphere.
