OVERVIEW

Description

To draw parallels from the Netflix sponsored series to the real world, we set out to chronicle the continuing presence of Pablo Escobar in South America today. Through the partnership, we gained exclusive access to the actual DEA agents that Netflix based their show, explored current cocaine plants in the jungles of Peru and reported on countries around the globe still grappling with the aftermath of his reign.

Execution

We rolled out the three documentaries through the course of September and October, supplemented with episode-specific trailers and corresponding social media to tell the story of Pablo Escobar's continuing presence. With relevant subjects and a passionate story, our documentary made strategic parallels to Netflix's series further seeding the series messaging.

Outcome

An instant hit, The Cocaine: Narcos, Sicarios and Peru series received over 2.5MM views, with 1.2MM views coming from Part 1 alone – beating plan goal by 288%. The videos were so successful that our international properties picked them up organically, amplifying Netflix's messaging around the world.
