The Fiat 500 ‘La Prima’ - the first electric iteration of the iconic cinquecento - was unveiled in Milan in 2020. We were hired by Fiat to create the engine sound (AVAS) sound for the car; a legal requirement for electric vehicles in the EU when travelling at under 20km/h. This vehicle is synonymous with Italian culture (think of ‘Luigi’ from Disney Pixar’s classic movie, ‘Cars’), and the client wanted the sound to feel both human and quintessentially Italian. After a competitive bidding process, we were engaged to bring this human element and cultural relevance to the vehicle’s engine sound.
