Context- The Internet is a fast growing music distribution channel dominated by illegal peer-to-peer services - Universal Music France decided to launch its own legal service and learn from itWhat does it consist in?- The first paying online music service launched in Europe by a Major- Customer has the ability to select, test, download and burn singles- Broad choice (Universal Music and Sony Music catalogues) with 'avant-premieres' every week (singles available on e-compil before in-store)- Available in 6-month subscriptions or 20-singles 'one-shot' formula- Easiness to use and broad availability were the driving factors of creative and technological choicesWhy should this program attract your attention?- Leading music site in France and number 1 'paying' online music service in Europe (ahead of OD2)- More than 200,000 singles sold- Allowing 'burning on CD' was the right choice made from the start, while other services tried to- Success is proved by the fact that Sony music (and soon other Majors) bring their catalogue despite e-compil belonging to Universal Music France- Everybody talks about it (!), Universal Music France did it, and did it right!
