Execution

The Boost effort launched with “The Class of ’06: 10 Films by 10 Students.” Ten at-risk high school seniors recorded their struggles to stay in school by shooting their own documentary-style films. These videos, uploaded to Boostup.org, captured the hurdles they faced on a daily basis: violence, poverty, lack of role models, learning disabilities and even teen pregnancy. Forums enabled visitors to provide encouragement and support.

Outcome

Average monthly website visits increased by 60%. Donated media skyrocketed: a 400% increase in broadcast TV media, a 46% increase in online media, and a #1 ranking in alternative media. Boost was the 2nd most-supported campaign in Ad Council’s history. Boost clearly outperformed any previous Ad Council Stay-in-School effort.
