OVERVIEW

Background

Every year we are tasked to design the Executive Gift Sets that are offered exclusively to management and executives. The Gift Sets come in three tiers. The first tier comprises of a box with an Annual Diary, the second tier comprises of an Annual Diary plus a ID holder and pen, and the third tier comprises of an Annual Diary, ID Holder, pen and exclusive gift. Executives can purchase these gift sets through our corporate B2B system and keep or gift them to other VIPs and government officials.

The brief was to improve the design of the Executive Gift Sets. Our objective was to create a design that would push the boundaries of production and explore new techniques for design and execution. As this is an exclusive item, it usually amounts to about 700 gift sets ordered.

Idea

Every year three different sized boxes are manufactured for each tier. The creative idea was to make just one box with one size. A modular box that can be stacked into three tiers, two tiers, or one box with a cover. This idea would improve the form and functionality and also significantly improve the production / assembly process in terms of reducing both time and material wasted. This was beautified by a design to celebrate the year 2024 and infused with our brand messaging.

Execution

We manufactured only one sized box. Each box would dove tail into the box below to lock with no glue needed. Meticulous experimentation ensured that the boxes fit perfectly, and were not too tight or loose. This box could be easily filled with pre-cut foam pieces (each accommodating either the diary, pen and ID holder, or gift). This offered flexibility in assembly significantly improved production, reducing both time and waste.

An elegant abstract graphic of the number 24 and a unique custom-made honeycomb blind embossing technique was used on the box cover and internal items to create integration between the packaging and internal items.

Gifts included a custom-made lanyard, a custom-made branded letter opener made of polish steel, and a wireless branded charger, all carefully chosen to suit our target audience and serve as subtle brand advertisement for years.

Outcome

The finished items exude confidence, sophistication, style and elegance. They are undeniably corporate but feature very human, tactile elements that make them satisfying to hold and use. The design captures the attention with an oblique form that’s not immediately obvious but resolves itself to reveal the date. All these carefully considered elements combine to create a unique representation of our brand. The impeccable quality reaffirms our commitment to excellence and our value of our consumer. The Annual Executive Gift Sets were warmly received, attracting praise from the highest levels resulting in over 390 orders.

We managed to fulfill the brief by creating not only an elegant design that enhances our brand value but a modular design that significantly improved the production/assembly process, reducing time and waste.
