Background
In a Bollywood crazy country like India, the face of music industry has forever been associated with actors and celebrities. Making music directors, lyricists, singers, instrumentalists and creators lose the spotlight to those who don the screens on their soundtrack.
As an artist first brand, Spotify wanted to shine the spotlight on each music artist’s love, passion, rigour and hard work to create music.
With Feel the Music, we brought these stories of that by teaming up with the world’s greatest maestro, AR Rahman, and going back to the endless hours of rehearsals, sleepless nights, countless retakes and unrecorded takes that created music.
All to make the world feel the relentless spirit and rigour that goes in the making of music.
Execution
Every country has an official national anthem. But only in India, did we have an unofficial national anthem too. Maa Tujhe Salaam by AR Rahman.
An ode by the Oscar winning music director AR Rahman to his country, Maa Tujhe Salaam stands as a symbol of Rahman’s uncurbed passion and undying love to create great music.
To show this love, passion and fire, Spotify deconstructed the song with the maestro himself, and took the world through the journey of it.
The journey of how every beat, tune and rhythm came to life, through countless retakes, sleepless nights and improvisations. The endless days of creative blocks and epiphanies that together made the masterpiece we know today as Maa Tujhe Salaam.
The song not only made viewers feel pride, but also the love with which Rahman made the song too.
