The music for Dance Fight was meant to be a temp track! I was prepping the job (I directed it) and needed something that supported a legit ‘dance fight’ without sounding like it was 'trying to be funny’ but still allowed space for comedy to organize my coverage around. I went with a bit of an 80’s cliché vibe at a BPM that worked for chanting and made sure it started sparse and got busier as it went along to support a sense of story and escalation. We ended up shooting against the track I put together and it just stuck - so that became the track! Bit of trivia... It’s official title on my hard drive is ’Tilda Swinton will not return my phone calls part 2’.
