Fletcher Cleaves was a promising football recruit out of Cordova High School in Memphis, TN who earned a scholarship to play at Lambuth University. On Sept. 9, 2009, the same day Fletcher was announced as a starter for the football team, his whole life changed in a matter of seconds. What seemed like an ordinary drive after practice resulted in a tragic accident caused by an oncoming driver, distracted from looking at their phone, who drifted into Cleave’s lane. Fletcher became paralyzed from the chest down and has since undergone an intensive rehabilitation process, that has seen him most recently overcome tremendous obstacles to start a full-time job and move into his own apartment.
