Background

A résumé can say a lot more than you think. So, we wanted to show exactly why Monster.com’s new résumé assessment tool is essential when it comes to sounding your best to prospective employers. It’s true what they say, every turd counts… Er, every word counts. Word. We meant word.

Idea

We were tasked with showing people on the job market why Monster.com’s résumé assessment tool can help them make a better first impression with prospective employers. Given that employers spend an average of six seconds scanning résumés, it’s important to stand out from the pack. So we needed to demonstrate why a professional opinion from people who know how job recruiters think could be the difference between sounding like a real candidate and sounding like a bumbling idiot.

Strategy

A résumé is your first opportunity to make a good OR bad impression. What you say on paper is just as important as what you say in person. So, to encourage people to take advantage of Monster.com’s résumé assessment tool, we set out to show exactly what a bad résumé looks like to prospective employers by literally turning a résumé into a person.

Execution

We enlisted the help of comedy heavy hitters The Perlorian Brothers to direct. The Brothers are known for their own brand of comedy story telling. They understood that the simple dialogue coverage and honest performances will give this scene the serious edge it needs to be funny.

Outcome

: This spot alog with the rest of the campaign ran on a wide variety of TV networks over 26 thousand times and counting.
