Description
The challenge of creating the mascot to represent the country that most loves football. The mascot that will thrill millions of people during the 2014 World Cup.
Execution
Why Armadillo? It is an animal with unique looks and characteristics, typical of the Brazilian fauna and classified as a vulnerable species. It is visually attractive and curious, captivating us with its personality and versatility. It even has the ability to turn into a ball on special occasions.
Who am I? I am a three-banded Brazilian armadillo. This is a perfect fit to the FIFA World Cup™ as I belong to one of only two species of armadillo with the ability to roll up into a ball. This is a great move as I can trick my friends when we are playing on the football pitch!
Outcome
The Mascot was the favourite in ressarch amongst kids. Design was effective enough for a wide range of versatile applications, assuring performance as products and licensing for consumers. The mascot was officially launched as part of Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo’s weekly Fantástico entertainment show, where he was welcomed by Brazilian football legend and member of the LOC Management Board, Ronaldo.
