OVERVIEW

Description

We wanted to make reading more accessible to everyone, not just through books or our traditional advertising but through all sorts of reading, however little, however amateurish or professional, by levering a very engaged customer base who was eager to collaborate with the brand.Instead of getting literature closer to people we decided to create a tool that would incite them to create written content for themselves, spreading it out through all kinds of written formats, to all sorts of targets. The most important thing: this new written content would get closer to people by being very easy to read. That's how the gandhi typography was created, a brand new font designed by a multidisciplinary team of experts that due to its characteristics has the advantage of facilitating the act of reading itself.

Execution

The creative solution was to put reading (literally) on people's way on an "alive" billboard that was narrating as a chronicle, the everyday life of one of the most traditional squares in Mexico City: Plaza Santo Domingo. This place, since XIX century, has been the writer's square where people go to dictate letters and other documents to public writers. Only this time, they became the characters, narrated by renowned authors. There's no other place as famous as Plaza Santo Domingo for writing in Mexico.

Outcome

Scanbooks was a success, over 8,000 titles were scanned in 15 days. Plus, at the end of each e-book, a discount was offered in order to buy a book on Gandhi Bookstores. Over 4,300 books were sold thanks to Scanbooks.
