OVERVIEW

Idea

The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is the most anticipated 12 minutes of the year. And with the Weeknd having headlined this year’s show, 2021 was no exception. In our film we capture people from all walks of American life as they unapologetically perform the Weeknd’s number-one Billboard hit “Blinding Lights” in their own ways in preparation for the show. The film ran nationally and built anticipation throughout the NFL playoffs, leading up to the Super Bowl itself.

Execution

As the champions of unapologetic enjoyment, we toasted Pepsi drinkers and music fans alike for enjoying music freely and without judgement with a performance seen across America. Each character in our film experienced and performed the Weeknd’s hit song “Blinding Lights” in their own unique ways—whether through a bus-station speaker, a portable radio or even a child’s xylophone. Because even in 2020, a year full of constraints, nothing could contain our collective love for music.
