OVERVIEW

Description

Everything is connected, and our lifestyle is often directly related to inhumane living conditions on the other side of the globe.

In a globalized world, we have more detailed information available than ever, about global deficiencies. But more information does not mean more commitment. The complexity of global relationships creates the feeling that you cannot change anything anyway. This campaign challenges the German audience with how directly our lifestyle can be related to inhumane living conditions.

Execution

It was the executional idea to combine an attention grabbing animation through realistic table-top scaled models captured with a stop-trick technique which would allow a simple stylised storytelling with a scaled real action film to overcome the complexity of the whole issue of global coherences.

What’s the point in having beautiful camera movements, an interesting animated stop trick world and real actors, when the worlds don’t fit together? That is what the biggest challenge visual effects was.

To match all this was a big challenge for the visual effects unit, who played an essential role from the beginning of the whole production process. To manage all challenges within 4 weeks, 4 teams worked in parallel painstakingly tracking and composited the real actors into the animated table-top sequences - bringing the idea to life in an unseen new way.

Outcome

In the first quarter of 2014 the local Caritas organisations already ordered on average 50% more campaign materials than they did throughout the whole of 2013, including posters, flyers and postcards. At the same time the offline campaign generated nearly 60% more visits to the caritas website and the visuals were downloaded almost 2000 times during that period.
