Overview

Background

WildAid, an environmental organization, calls on countries to end its ivory trade to save elephants, that face extinction due to poaching. It will be ideal if Japan can declare "Ivory Free” to achieve 4 in 17 goals of SDGs by 2020 as the host country for Olympics.

Idea

The Hankograph.

We created an animation was made entirely of hankos.

To tell the tragic truth behind ivory hankos.

Strategy

Most Japanese people are simply unaware that Japan holds the highest domestic sales of ivory in the world, and hanko account for 80% of this. How can we tell the tragic truth of behind ivory hanko?

Execution

An animation “Hankograph” was made entirely of wood not ivory hanko, to underscore the urgency of choosing sustainable materials.

It was launched online in time with Earth Day.

Outcome

Domestic and foreign authorized media reported and brought a lot of responses and supporters even though, it is the serious theme related to the Japanese government. (100+million impressions/launched on Earth Day, April 21)

The number of petition is over 4,000 immediately after the campaign begins and continuing to grow. (This will be submitted to the government.)
