Execution

We surrounded the game play with tangible objects that allowed players to interact with the game outside of the screen: Sony's creation of wall art, a physical book of the art by Richard Hogg, and Ghostly's physical and digital incantations of the soundtrack in the game. Working with the team at iam8bit (who made the book), Ghostly (music provider), Honeyslug (game developers), and Sony PlayStation (game publisher), we were able to turn this extraction into an interaction as well -- a show that featured all of the physical items in relation to the game with performances by the touring musicians.

Outcome

From the standpoint of the soundtrack, the sales have been quite strong. In the few short months since the release of this game (bearing in mind it isn't a major catalog title, and the budgets involved would be respective to that), we've more than recouped the cost of the production of the music pieces, and have nearly sold out of the pressing of the rainbow colored vinyl of the soundtracks. The artists involved in the soundtracks creation are seeing 2-3x the interest in original composition for projects than previously.
