Background

Before presenting HP as the security solution, we first exposed the security vulnerability and potential risk of unprotected printers. In order for IT Professionals to understand these real-life cyber threats could be responsible for their businesses’ demise HP launched the cyber-security film series “The Wolf.” The film series pivoted away from traditional dry messaging and executions that rule the B2B cybersecurity space and leaned into dramatized storytelling.

With actor Christian Slater as “The Wolf,” proprietary information is stolen from a financial company (season 1) and later from a hospital (season 2) through unprotected printers––culminating with him exposing their secrets to the entire world. In the season finale “True Alpha,” the momentum continued, raising the stakes with international destinations, a far-longer duration, and a more ambitious storyline. “True Alpha” generated 82% brand fluency and exceeded its benchmark with 75% purchase intent in the US market.

Execution

In True Alpha, The Wolf teaches us another lesson about the dangers of unsecured endpoints. This time The Wolf sets his sights on a villainous oligarch, Stefan Torvik. The idea being, if someone as powerful as Stefan can be taken down, anyone can fall prey.

When our story opens, cyber-security consultant Cecelia Grey teams up with her pal The Fixer to bring down Stefan as well. Their plan involves infiltrating Stefan’s network through the unsecured large format printer at The Port of Europe. They also plan to embarrass Stefan during his keynote address at The World Economic Forum. But when Cecelia loses her nerve, The Wolf steps in and executes her plan.

Cecelia and The Fixer find The Wolf’s breadcrumbs, which leads authorities to the Kiev hacking cell and to Stefan Torvik. The Wolf ultimately lands in prison, but only until Cecelia infiltrates Kiev prison and frees him.
