Background
Airline adverts are generally full of clichéd imagery around comfort on the plane. We wanted to reignite the wonder of flight and where it can take you, so we created never-seen-before inspiring and dreamlike imagery, seamlessly stitched together to give a sense of ease. Holiday imagery that garners an emotional, visceral response - making viewers want to be right there and right now, with easyJet. These visuals show the range of holiday scenes that Europe has to offer - from crisp piested ski slopes, to streets with bustling markets on, and white sandy beaches.
Our journey through these destinations is led by our female easyJet pilot who provides the signpost of equality.
Execution
The ‘statue’ scene was an amalgamation of layers of CGI alongside scanned real people in poses; this created a strong sense of reality in this imaged scene. Again, in the final patchwork scene, real footage was shot for each section then put together to create the surreal visual (matching camera heights, movement, lenses and light direction). The most challenging scene was creating an inflatable street on a lilo. The movement of the buildings was the result of different CGI simulation tests in greyscale. MPC then photographed and modelled their CGI buildings on real buildings of a street in Lisbon. We then shot our cyclist with real light interactions that moved as if the buildings were moving and real elements, such as a jiggling washing line, so the CGI buildings would feel like they had a tangible effect on our live action world.
