OVERVIEW

Description

Through massive communication, we invite people to a website whose main content is a video where stories of a specific squatter settlement are shown and heard. But, there is an important detail: the inhabitants of the settlement are invisible. The website asks people to share the video, and when they do, the original video is replaced with another one which is exactly the same as the first but where the settlers are visible, not just voices off-screen.

Execution

• Implementation: We made 2 identical short films: one with the settlers in front of the camera and the other with them off-screen. We created a website that shows the off-screen version first. When people share this video on social media, the website changes the version. They can now see the on-screen video with the settlers who up until then had been invisible and could only be heard.

• Timeline: The digital action was launched in April and will be on all year long.

Outcome

It is a short time since the digital action was launched. Thousands of people share the video on social media, and the local mass media (newspapers, TV channels, radio and websites) deal with the topic.
