OVERVIEW

Description

In Turkey, women are underrepresented in politics.

Besides historical and social oppression, the biggest obstacle for women to enter politics is the absolute authority granted by law to party leaders to pick their own candidates.

In this campaign KA.DER, the Association for Supporting Female Candidates, aimed to put pressure on political leaders to increase the number of women candidates and to increase the percentage of MP's. Plus to draw the attention of public opinion.

For years the ongoing excuse about the unequal percentage of women candidates was that there were not enough women who wanted to be involved in politics.

In this campaign we targeted the party leaders who were the primary decision makers in determining the candidates. We wanted to show that women wanted to participate in politics at all levels yet political leaders pretended to be deaf to their messages. (Main opposition leader on the right)
