To promote King Kong, we realised we had to create something as massive and heart-stopping as the monster itself. While promoting his size, the idea had to display King Kong in a new light. The best place to get maximum attention was the premises right outside the cinema. So we placed a huge heap of banana peels outside the cinema hall, with a sign reading "King Kong Is Here". The banana mountain indicated that the mighty King Kong was after all, a monkey, albeit many times bigger than other primates.
Outcome
The film ran full house for the first 2 weeks, and thereafter continued to run successfully for 5 weeks. From the first date of implementation, the client received endless enquiries about the film and the promotion as well. It also generated tremendous hype and intrigue. Many people came just to see the huge banana mountain.
