OVERVIEW

Background

In Canada, most mobile data is sold on monthly gig plans (generally between one and six gigs per month). Since people are charged for the full amount, whether they use all of the gigs or not, most people buy their data in the smallest plan they might need. The problem however, is that when they go over their monthly data limit, they are hit with very expensive data overage charges.

Only Koodo (one of Canada’s top Telco providers) offers Shock-Free Data – a service that pauses people’s data when they reach their limit, so they never get an unexpected overage again. These spots explore what happens when you don’t have Shock-Free Data.

Execution

Our hero is casually looking at her phone bill. She notices an unexpected data overage charge. Surprised, she thinks back to when this might have happened. We cut to show her at a concert with a friend. She is having the time of her life and loses herself in the moment. She proudly yells out “I’m live-streaming the whole show” as she does just that.

We then quickly cut back to her at home as she realizes her mistake. We cut to an end screen that lets the viewer know that with Koodo and their Shock-Free Data service, this would not have happened.
