Lin is a 3D-animated character that follows the Pixar/Disney style, which in itself is challenging. Twenty different character studies and hundreds of sketches were made before we landed on what we see on screen now. His scales were the most difficult part to recreate. They needed to look natural and smooth as the character moved and rolled around. To achieve a high-quality rendering of their peculiar body anatomy, we studied the endangered species for days. Since pangolins are not a particularly cute animal in real life, we had a lot of crafting to do so our audience would fall in love and want to help Lin achieve stardom and save his species.
