Background
Our trailer for Marvel Powers United VR taps into our audience’s powerful nostalgia for superheroes. Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, and Spiderman are more than just fictional characters—they are childhood heroes that generations of kids wish they could be. Nostalgia, and the desire to have superpowers, are the emotional drivers that fuel our spot. People remember exactly how it felt to dream they were a superhero, and many never let go of that dream. With Marvel Powers United VR, that dream has finally become a reality.
Execution
Halloween, 1989. We meet a series of kids costumed as their favorite Marvel superheroes—but something’s missing. An aspiring Captain America fumbles a cardboard shield throw, as young Wolverine, Dr. Strange, and Spiderman experience the limitations of their homemade super-powers. Wondering if they will ever get to feel what their heroes feel, we transition to present day. Now grown up, the same friends gear up with Oculus Rift and Touch and transform into their beloved superheroes, their childhood dreams finally fulfilled by the power of VR. Our Wolverine tears through reality with her adamantium claws and the four reunite in the Dark Dimension. In a highly-choreographed battle sequence, the friends defeat a wave of enemies and come face-to-face with a lineup of Marvel supervillains— Loki, Dormammu, Ronan, Ultron, and Thanos himself. Transition to game capture showcasing the incredible powers players will wield in VR. Endslate: “Unleash Your Inner Hero.”
