Description

Sleep masks with masterpiece's eyes.

Idea:

Masterpieces never sleep!

“When night begins and the museum halls turn empty, the art masterpieces stay awake and look from the darkness. Till the morning they don't close their eyes, monitoring what happens around. By trying on the sleep mask with painting character's eyes, you can be sure that you'll see true masterpieces in your dream! And your dream will be under protection, cuz painting heroes stay awake guarding your rest. Have a good night.”

If to think about it, really, for hundreds of years painting characters never sleep. There is something mysterious about it.

In the collection of the Rijksmuseum there are a lot of portraits, this inspire to create unlimited quantity of variations of the souvenir production. There is an opportunity to produce a product for new exhibitions.

Execution

The product is a sleep mask with masterpieces eyes.

On the front side of the mask is a print with the eyes of the famous masterpiece from the Rijksmuseum. The eyes are arranged in such way that they like real eyes of the person.

As a basis is images of the most popular masterpieces of the Rijksmuseum.

The mask made of environmentally friendly materials and is sewn by hand. (easy to produce)

Structure:

1. Front: Atlas (Silk) + print

2. The inner layer: Padding polyester

3. Inside: 100% Cotton

Package design is presented in the shape of a cardboard tube, on a label of which is painted character. Title and author. Design elements and slogan.

The museum visitors always want something memorable. This mask is not only a gift, but also a useful thing. There is a bit of humor aspect in the project eyes size for example and scary feeling in the morning for your sweetheart.

Masks get a bit creepy! They has its own charm and aesthetics. This project doesn’t cause indifferent attitude: either you like it or scary and repel.

Outcome

The project became popular in social networks and media. Many major public, media, newspapers, magazines made publications about it.

For example, some of them: Designboom (more than 5.5k reposts), Dangerousminds (more than 8.6k reposts), Creators, Packaging of the world, press service of the Rijksmuseum, Wallpaper* (UK), Beaux Arts (France) and many others.

Sleep masks received lots of positive feedback and jokes in social networks and also first potential buyers of this art object appeared.

The idea of the project went forward. Sleep masks received a good response from The Russian Museum (St Petersburg), The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow), The National Gallery (London), Rembrandt House Museum, Van Gogh Museum (the Netherlands). Now we are negotiating about creating masks for them also.
